One of our favorite ways to hunt gold is with a detector. Our private claims have plenty of opportunity to find gold nuggets from the smallest picker size. The largest nugget we have found on our claims has been larger than half an ounce. A great many of our nuggets are in the sub gram range.

Modern technology has brought many types of specialized gold detectors including very low frequency VLF detectors and pulse induction PI detectors. There are endless viewpoints on what the best detectors are and which manufacture is the best. When you think about the varying soil conditions, depth of nuggets, and size of nuggets, nothing beats getting advice from fellow detectorists and fellow club members. Most of our members have gold detecting experience.
